I just wanted to write some information on the Costs of Portrait Sessions. Every photographer charges differently. Some photographers charge per person, hourly, package only, etc...

The way I decided to run this business is exactly what I would expect from someone I were to hire. I charge hourly.

$100 an hour seems pretty steep when you're just looking at the cost; however, it's about what goes into that cost that makes it phenomenal.

Equipment

I work with some amazing equipment! For what I work with, I could have made a down payment on a house or had a new vehicle almost paid off. Instead, I chose to put it towards quality. I work with a Canon 5D Mark III 24-70 f/2.8 (new version) & 70-200 f/2.8 (new version) as my mains, can't really go wrong with those!

Editing Software

I also spent a pretty penny on the best editing software available. Not only did I want to be able to take amazing photos, but I wanted to be certain that I could fine tune those photos without limitations. I work with Adobe CS6.

 Experience

I have been a photographer for 7 years! That's a lot of experience, a lot of learning, a lot of failure and success that has gone into sculpting everything into one brilliant package.

Travel

As a photographer we spend a lot of time traveling, a lot of gas, wear on the vehicle, fixes, etc...

Time Editing

My work doesn't stop when I'm done with a photo session. I go back to my office, load the memory cards to the computer & edit. Editing doesn't take as long as it used to, but it still is time consuming. Especially when you care about quality and detail like I do!

So when you put Experience + Equipment + Software + Travel + Time Editing  = $100 an hour for excellent quality. You really are getting an amazing deal. I take the time necessary to make sure every photo is going to be spectacular.

Although, I understand, you can find plenty of photographers who will take your photos at a store or a studio & charge way less. Remember, you want to consider what you're paying for.

Photographs are timeless, meant to be looked upon years down the road and you say, " I was there, we did that, it was wonderful, look how beautiful that was." They are meant to last! Be sure you're going to be getting that quality with whomever you decide to go with!
