There is something truly special about watching your friends fall in love and get married. Which is one of the many reasons weddings have held such a strong tradition in our culture. It's why we take time out of our busy lives to celebrate the union of two people who are willing to commit their lives to one another and shower them with well wishes. Their love reminds us of the love we have for our own life partners, friends, children, and families. In fact, one of my favorite things about weddings is the anniversary dance when the DJ calls everyone out to the dance floor and slowly counts the years the couple's on the dance floor have been married. As the years grow in number I watch couples beam with happiness that their marriages have lasted for so long, hold each other closer, and when the DJ finally hits numbers like 45 & 60 the whole crowd cheers! These silly traditions remind us to hold on tight, and be grateful for all the years we have had and will have together.
Well, Devyn & Brad's wedding was no different this time EXCEPT for that they are friends of mine. It made every part of the day even more magical, and I found myself feeling all the warm and fuzzies inside times a million! It's rare that I attend weddings as a guest (since I'm usually photographing them), so it was special to be a part of their day in more ways than one.
Mr. & Mrs. Beardsley you have found each other. You make each other laugh, you support each other's goals, you do life together brilliantly, and you are great friends. I hope you get the chance to give advice at your granddaughter, or grandson's wedding one day after being the last ones to share the anniversary dance.
Congratulations! Thank you for choosing me to be a part of your day. I love you guys.
